B1G Bracketology: Maryland faces important challenge, 9 teams remain in field at end of January

We’re nearing the end of January and Bracketology is really starting to ramp up. As of Jan. 31, 9 B1G teams are considered to be in the field, though some are flirting with the possibility of dropping out of the field of 68. On top of that, 2 more, Wisconsin and Ohio State, are on the bubble outside looking in.

Maryland is one of those teams. According to ESPN Bracketologist  Joe Lunardi, the Terrapins will be in Last Four In territory if they can’t beat Indiana Tuesday night in College Park. The Hoosiers, meanwhile, can make a major jump with a win over the Terrapins.

Below is how Lunardi places all 11 B1G teams in the fray as of Jan. 31.

  • No. 5 Seed Indiana
  • No. 5 Seed Illinois
  • No. 6 Seed Rutgers
  • No. 7 Seed Michigan State
  • No. 9 Seed Northwestern
  • No. 9 Seed Iowa
