B1G fans react to Purdue earning spot in B1G Baseball Tournament due to cancellation

Several fans across the B1G — particularly those pulling for Nebraska and Northwestern — aren’t too thrilled with how Purdue earned a spot into the conference baseball tournament.

On Saturday, the final game of the regular season between Purdue and Maryland was canceled because of weather. Thanks to the no decision, the Boilers could not be caught by the Huskers or Wildcats in the conference win percentage category.

According to reports, Purdue and Maryland delayed the start of the game despite no rain in the area. First pitch was scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. Rain didn’t hit the area until approximately 3:30 p.m. ET.

A Purdue loss on Saturday would’ve opened the door for both Nebraska and Northwestern to steal the last spot. A win for the Boilers — or in this case, a no decision — “secured” a spot in Omaha.
