B1G lands 11 players on preseason watch list for Maxwell Award

The B1G is gearing up for the 2023 season and the league’s final season of football before adding USC and UCLA.

On Monday, the Maxwell Award dropped the complete preseason watch list for one of the top honors in the country. The award is handed out annually to the most outstanding player in college football. USC’s Caleb Williams took home the award a season ago and is back for a shot to repeat.

The B1G landed 11 stars on the list with 5 quarterbacks included. That group includes B1G newcomer Tanner Mordecai and new Iowa QB Cade McNamara who transferred from Michigan in the offseason.

Three teams from the conference landed multiple players on the preseason list. Wisconsin (Mordecai and RB Braelon Allen), Michigan (JJ McCarthy and Blake Corum) and Ohio State (Emeka Egbuka and Marvin Harrison Jr.).
