B1G makes final decision on if Wisconsin-Nebraska will count in the standings

The Wisconsin-Nebraska game will officially be declared a no-contest, according to reports.

The Wisconsin State Journal’s Todd Milewski was the first with that confirmation.

There was some confusion on this matter because Wisconsin decided to pull the plug on this game due to a COVID-19 outbreak. If the Big Ten had made that decision for them, it would have automatically been declared a no contest.

The Badgers are shut down for the next seven days following 12 positive tests since their Week 1 victory.

Teams must play at least six games (or no fewer than two games less than the conference average) to qualify for a division title. That doesn’t leave much margin for error remaining for the Badgers or Huskers.

Nebraska will likely be off this week, although there’s some speculation that they may seek permission from the Big Ten to play a nonconference opponent.

As of now, Wisconsin is still scheduled to face Purdue in Week 3.
