B1G QBR leaders following a busy Week 1 slate

Week 1 of the college football season has come and gone, minus two games on Sunday and Monday. However, the B1G slate has finished up, seeing a 11-2 record across the weekend and a 10-0 non conference record.
B1G quarterbacks performed well. ESPN’s QBR (Total quarterback rating) represents how well a quarterback performed across all plays, adjusted for strength of opponent. It should be noted that to qualify a quarterback must take at least 20 action plays per game (rush, pass, etc) meaning Michigan’s JJ McCarthy and Cade McNamara did not qualify, nor did Rutgers’ Evan Simon or Gavin Wimsatt
Here’s how the B1G quarterbacks ranked in QBR:
- CJ Stroud: 89.5
- Ryan Hilinski: 85.7
- Sean Clifford: 75.4
- Tanner Morgan: 74.2
- Aidan O’Connell: 69.4
- Payton Thorne: 68.2
- Connor Bazelak: 63.6
- Tommy DeVito: 56.9
- Taulia Tagovailoa: 55.7
- Graham Mertz: 53.1
- Casey Thompson: 50.9
- Spencer Petras: 1.1
No, Petras’ number is not a joke, nor a typo.
