More B1G trouble: Iowa trails Oregon after 1st half

The B1G’s forgettable Sunday is now trickling into Monday.
No. 2 seed Iowa finds itself trailing No. 7 Oregon 56-46 in the first game of Monday’s second round action from Indianapolis. The Hawkeyes are one of three teams left in the tournament from the B1G, along with Michigan and Maryland.
Iowa did own a 42-38 lead with under 4:30 to play in the opening half, but the Ducks went on a 18-4 run to close out the half and take a 10-point advantage into the locker room.
Oregon was incredibly balanced in the opening half, as four players scored in double figures. Chris Duarte and Will Richardson led the way with 14 points each, LJ Figueroa added 11 and Eugene Omoruyi pitched in 10. The only starter not in double digits was Eric Williams Jr., who ended the half with 7.
Luka Garza was on fire in the first half, scoring 22 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the floor. Joe Wieskamp was the only other starter to score for the Hawkeyes in the first 20 minutes, finishing with 7 points and 5 assists. Iowa did get 17 points off the bench, led by Patrick McCaffery who scored 8 and Joe Toussaint with 5.
The biggest difference came behind the 3-point line, with the Ducks making 7-of-14 shots from long range while the Hawkeyes hit just 3-of-11 attempts.
