Beau Brade and Dante Trader Jr. have been two standouts on Maryland’s defense this season. The defensive back pairing are always trying to help each other get better per Alyssa Muir of UMTerps.com.
Brade was one of the first players to help Trader with the playbook when he stepped foot on campus last season. Since then, the two have been nearly inseparable, watching film together and constantly trying to improve their game.
“Beau was the first one to help me with the playbook, to show me the ropes,” Trader said. “He’s like a big brother to me and we always had a goal to play together. We have a special connection. We were always in the weight room, watching film, always doing extra stuff.”
For Brade, he saw Trader as a brother since he didn’t have any growing up. Brade has simply tried to pass along his knowledge so that Trader can be better prepared for games.
“Me not having any brothers, I just kind of looked at Dante as a brother,” Brade said. “He had a love for the game and wanted to learn more and more, so I just tried to teach him everything I knew and everything I learned from players before me.”
Brade is currently leading the Terps in total tackles (27), and has 1 forced fumble and 1 interception. Trader is fourth on the team in total tackles (11), and also has 1 interception so far.
Maryland is going to need these two if it wants to contend for a B1G East title and back-to-back bowl game appearances.
