Ben Bryant injured on hard sack vs. Penn State

Ben Bryant was the star of Northwestern’s comeback win over Minnesota in Week 4. Unfortunately, the Wildcat offense has struggled against Penn State, and Bryant’s status is up in the air after a brutal hit on the goal line.
Facing a 3rd-and-goal situation with a chance to cut into Penn State’s lead, Bryant ran a play-action pass play. It did not work with Zane Durant thoroughly unfazed and busting through the line for a sack.
In the process, Bryant was dumped hard on his right shoulder, and he immediately grabbed at the area in pain. The Wildcats did kick a field goal to make it 27-13 but Bryant’s status is the bigger question here.
The Big Ten Network broadcast reported Bryant spent a few minutes in the injury tent on the sideline. However, it did not take long before he was escorted back to the locker room for further evaluation, so we’ll see if he is able to return in the fourth quarter.
Bryant was 14-for-25 with 122 yards at the time of his injury. He finished last week’s dramatic win with 396 yards and 4 touchdowns as Northwestern rallied for a win.
