It’s not uncommon for Iowa to produce some of the best offensive linemen in college football. Kirk Ferentz has done an excellent job recruiting and developing players up front over the course of his career with the program.

Heading into the 2021 season, the Hawkeyes will again have one of the best players on the offensive line on the roster — at least according to Pro Football Focus (PFF). Center Tyler Linderbaum received some major praise from one analyst.

PFF’s Seth Galina calls Linderbaum “the best offensive lineman in college football” entering the 2021 season. There’s no question he’s at least in the conversation, being named to multiple preseason All-America teams.

At 6-foot-3, 290 pounds, Linderbaum is considered the top returning center in college football. He was a finalist for the Rimington Trophy a year ago and was a first-team All-B1G and first-team All-America selection. He’s started in each of the last 21 games over the past two seasons and played in two additional contests as a freshman in 2018.

Linderbaum has been the anchor on an offensive line that has enjoyed a 16-5 record over the past two seasons. He’s likely to be a high selection in the 2022 NFL Draft, assuming he declares after the 2021 season.
