Most of the 2019 recruiting class was signed several months before fall camp ever started, but Illinois has made a late addition.
On Monday, the Illini received a late pledge from Devon Witherspoon, an unranked cornerback out of Pensacola, Florida. He’s a late joiner for Illinois, but helps add depth to a roster that has lacked it for several years.
According to 247Sports, Witherspoon received offers from nine other programs. He picked Illinois over South Alabama, Appalachian State, Georgia State, UMass and Middle Tennessee, among others.

Illinois’ 2019 recruiting class ranked 13th in the B1G and 53rd nationally. There are 22 incoming members of the class, which includes six players the Illini nabbed from the transfer portal.
