Big 12 slaps Baylor with fine for field storming following upset win over Oklahoma

As has always been the rage, an exciting win is usually followed by the home crowd flooding the field in celebration.
But in today’s world, it comes at a cost.
When the clock ran down on Baylor’s 27-14 clubbing of No. 12 Oklahoma on Saturday, the celebration began and fans rushed the field.
On Tuesday, the Big 12 announced what the fun would cost them, to the tune of $25,000. Fortunately, there was only one fine as the fans actually ran onto the field twice. The first time with just a second to play, and another once the clock ran out.

The fans’ early celebration wasn’t very popular with Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley. He was seen expressing his displeasure with the referees shortly after the first on-field rush. While no penalty was called, the Bears kicked a field goal as the clock ran out to take the score to 27-14. Riley called the move against the “code of sportsmanship.”
With the win Baylor moves to 5-2 in Big 12 play, and are third in the league behind a pair of 6-1 teams in Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.
