Indiana’s sixth win of the 2019 season will result in a nice bonus for head coach Tom Allen. More could be on the way if the Hoosiers continue to rack up victories, as well.
Monday morning, Kevin Brockway of CNHI Indiana tweeted out that Allen will receive at least a $100,000 bonus for guaranteeing Indiana’s bowl berth this weekend. The Hoosiers defeated Nebraska in Lincoln to improve to 6-2 on the year.
It’s the first year IU has been bowl eligible since 2016.
Per terms of his contract, IU football coach Tom Allen is guaranteed at least a $100,000 bonus for getting to IU to its sixth win Saturday against Nebraska. Bonus can increase to $200K for seven wins, $300K for eight wins and $400K for nine wins. #iufb

But the $100,000 in extra money is the bare minimum Allen will receive this season. If the Hoosiers continue to pile on the wins this season, his bonus will increase. According to Brockway, Allen’s bonus will increase by $100,000 for each additional win over six:
- 6 wins: $100,000
- 7 wins: $200,000
- 8 wins: $300,000
- 9 wins: $400,000
Allen could earn nearly a half-million in bonuses by the time the season ends. Indiana still has games against Northwestern (1-6), No. 5 Penn State (8-0), No. 14 Michigan (6-2) and Purdue (2-6).
