Big Ten basketball: Preseason All-B1G rosters, Player of the Year released for 2022-23 season

Big Ten basketball is almost here for the 2022-23 season and the awaited preseason polls are out.

On Monday, the annual preseason poll conducted by beat writers at The Athletic and The Columbus Dispatch was released to showcase who they deem to be the overall favorite and B1G Player of the Year.

The Indiana Hoosiers received a total of 377 votes, 19 first-place votes, making them the front runner of the preseason B1G poll. Behind the Hoosiers is Illinois with 339 votes and 6 first-place votes and then Michigan with 328 votes and 1 first-place vote.

The first team All-B1G selections were led by Indiana’s Trayce Jackson-Davis and Michigan’s Hunter Dickinson. Those two were the only unanimous All-B1G selections in the preseason.

In terms of Player of the Year, Dickinson edged out Jackson-Davis for the preseason honor. Indiana freshman Jalen Hood-Schifino is expected to be the Freshman of the Year while Terrance Shannon Jr. received the nod as Transfer of the Year after making the move to Illinois.

  • Hunter Dickinson, Michigan

Freshman of the year

Transfer of the year

  • Terrence Shannon Jr., Illinois
