Big Ten football unveils weekly honors for Week 6

Big Ten football is gearing up for Week 7 as the 2023 college football season moves along. In Week 6, there were some standout performances from another exciting week of B1G action.
On Monday, the league unveiled the Players of the Week from the first October Saturday of football.

Offensive Player of the Week
- Marvin Harrison Jr., Ohio State WR
Harrison recorded his third 100-yard game in 5 contests as Ohio State defeated Maryland 37-17. For his career, Harrison now has 10 games in triple digits, tying Michael Jenkins and Garrett Wilson for third at OSU. Harrison recorded 8 catches for 163 yards and 1 touchdown.
Defensive Player of the Week
- Josh Proctor, Ohio State S
Proctor had a career game for OSU in the 37-17 win over Maryland. He tied his career-high of 7 tackles, including a new career-best 6 solo stops with 1.5 TFL. Proctor was also the first Buckeye to reach the end zone, snagging a pick-6 off Maryland QB Taulia Tagovailoa.
Special Teams Player of the Week
- Tory Taylor, Iowa P
Taylor played a key role in setting field position in Iowa’s 20-14 win against Purdue. The Aussie punter had 6 punts for 284 (47.3 yards per punt), including a 61-yarder with 2 punts downed inside the 20-yard line.
Freshman of the Week
- Dillon Thieneman, Purdue DB
Even in a losing effort, Thieneman was a standout performer, leading a Purdue secondary that held Iowa to 6-of-21 passing for 110 yards. Thieneman snagged his team-leading third interception of the season and logged 8 tackles. He had 7 solo stops, adding to his B1G lead.
