Big Ten media rights are expected to conclude in the coming days. According to recent reports, NBC and CBS are frontrunners to land the deal with the B1G alongside FOX Sports.
As a part of that deal, CBS is expected to air B1G games in the 3:30 pm ET time slot while NBC is targeting primetime games to pair with the network’s existing Notre Dame broadcasts. ESPN is also reportedly pulling out of the negotiations.
On Wednesday, Notre Dame AD Jack Swarbrick addressed the reported NBC aspect of the B1G’s new deal. According to The Athletic’s Matt Fortuna, Swarbrick called the NBC aspect “perfect” for Notre Dame. Swarbrick cited a need for more college games on NBC to help promote the existing games of the Irish on the network.
Jack Swarbrick says on a school live chat the Big Ten’s new TV deal is “perfect” for Notre Dame: “We need NBC to have more college football, to more effectively promote our games and to talk about our games and to have NBC be seen in that light. So that was great for us.”

Ashton Pollard with BlueandGold.com also shared additional comments from Swarbrick on the deal and potential realignment opportunities.
Notre Dame AD Jack Swarbrick is on a live chat talking realignment: “I don’t know if we’re stronger, but it certainly has felt like a validation of our decision to be independent. When I started this job, all the commentary was ‘Are we relevant?’ This year, no one’s asking that.”
