The Big Ten Tournament is set to begin on Wednesday night, and Robbie Hummel and Bruce Weber on the Big Ten Network have come out with their players to watch.
The former Purdue star chose Penn State’s Jalen Pickett.
“I think he’s got a lot to play for not being selected as a unanimous first-team All-Big Ten selection,” Hummel said. “I think that is interesting and pretty crazy with the year that he’s had, he’s going to be an All-American and he’s not a consensus first-team All-Big Ten player.”
Hummel pointed out Pickett scored 61 points in 2 games against Illinois.
“He’s had their number, we’ll see, should be pretty fun to watch,” he said.
Weber chose Northwestern’s Boo Buie, and again pointed out a slight that he wasn’t on the coaches and media’s first-team All-Big Ten selections.
“To me, he carried them,” Weber said. “He carried them late, his maturity, how he developed as a player, his pace, and that was not just from last year to this year. It was during the year, maybe even late in the year.”
