Big Ten wrestling is putting the final touches on another season of conference duals. With the regular season wrapping up, postseason meets will be right around the corner.

On Monday, BTN’s Shane Sparks dropped his latest B1G Medal Stand coming out of the weekend. Nebraska’s Mikey Labriola took home the gold while Sparks also recognized a team at the silver spot.

Here’s Sparks’ latest Medal Stand:

  1. Mikey Labriola, 174 pounds, Nebraska
  2. Maryland Terrapins
  3. Jack Medley, 125 pounds, Michigan

Sparks highlighted Labriola’s ability as an elite scrambler while going 2-0 over the weekend:

“So strong and physical but one of the best scramblers of any weight class in the entire country,” said Sparks. “On Friday night in a 4-4 match with Ethan Smith of Ohio State, Labriola scores a takedown in the final seconds to win 6-4.”

As for Maryland, the Terrapins rallied from 8 points down in the last 2 matches to secure their first B1G dual win since 2016. Meanwhile, Medley recorded 24 total points with 10 takedowns in a major decision against Indiana.

Stay tuned for the rest of the wrestling season, including postseason duals down the road.
