Blake Corum breaks through, ends red-zone struggles of Michigan with 4th-quarter TD vs. MSU

Blake Corum waited a while to do it, but the star running back for Michigan finally scored another touchdown for the team in the red zone against Michigan State.

For much of the night, the Wolverines have dominated the clock and the time of possession against the Spartans. Unfortunately, the team has settled for 5 field goals from Jake Moody throughout the contest.

From Corum’s first touchdown of the night at the 11:58 mark of the second quarter until the 12:47 mark of the fourth, Michigan was kept out of the end zone. In that stretch, the Wolverines had drives of 15 plays, 11 plays, 9 plays and 8 plays all end in field goals.

Then — after a botched punt snap from Michigan State — the Wolverines were finally able to capitalize. Corum punched in his second touchdown of the night from 4 yards out, and this touchdown likely ices the game for the Wolverines with Michigan up 22 points in the fourth quarter.

While the game for Michigan is likely not going to win any style awards, it will go down as another strong victory for the Wolverines. It will be interesting to see where an 8-0 Michigan squad lands on the initial College Football Playoff Rankings on Tuesday.
