Darrius Clemons didn’t need much time to make a splash wearing a maize-and-blue uniform. He put himself on the map on Saturday during Michigan’s spring game.

Early in the second half, Clemons hauled in a diving 35-yard touchdown grab that got everyone on their feet inside Michigan Stadium. It was one of the top plays from the weekend’s exhibition in Ann Arbor.

Clemons had a solid showing in the spring game. It might’ve been a surprised for those tuned into Big Ten Network or inside the Big House on Saturday, but not to his teammates.

The 4-star wide receiver is already getting plenty of attention from some of the other guys on the squad. One of the players he’s impressed is star running back Blake Corum.

“My first impressions when he early enrolled, I was like, that’s what a receiver should look like,” Corum said, per Angelique Chengelis of The Detroit News. “He’s big, tall, muscled up. … He’s gonna be a big-time player for us and I’m excited to see what he does next.”

Clemons will have his work cut out for him to carve out a role this season. He’s in a crowded and talented receiver room that also has Cornelius Johnson, Ronnie Bell, AJ Henning, Andrel Anthony and others. But if he’s able to make plays like the one in the spring game, it’ll be tough for Jim Harbaugh to keep the freshman off the field.

Per 247Sports, Clemons was a 4-star receiver in the 2022 class. He was one of the Top 200 prospects in the class and the No. 24 player at his position.

He’s living up to that rating early in his Michigan career.
