Blake Corum continues to rehab from a season-ending knee injury sustained in the fall. Head coach Jim Harbaugh updated the status of Michigan’s star running back heading into the spring on Thursday.
According to Harbaugh, Corum will not participate in spring practices per ESPN. Fortunately, Corum is expected to be back to full strength in June.
“He’ll get a full summer cycle,” Harbaugh said of Corum.
Provided Corum does get a complete summer in at full strength, there should be little concern for his status and outlook heading into the fall season. Even with the missed practice time, Corum is widely regarded as the top running back returning to college football.
During the 2022 season, Corum posted 1,463 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns while serving as a focal point of the Wolverine offense. He tried to play against Ohio State after originally injuring his knee against Illinois, but his season was done before the B1G Championship Game.
With a number of offensive line reinforcements added in the portal and key returners elsewhere, we’ll see if Michigan can make a run at a 3rd straight B1G title. Corum could also find himself back in the mix for the Heisman Trophy if he is able to remain healthy.
