Blake Corum reveals full extent of season-ending knee injury

Blake Corum revealed Monday the extent of the injury that left him sidelined for the College Football Playoff.

The standout running back and Heisman candidate had a torn meniscus and a sprained MCL he revealed, which he sustained in the late minutes of the first half during Michigan’s November game against Illinois.

Corum returned to play against Ohio State while donning a knee brace but saw very little action, recording just two carries for 6 yards before hobbling off the field. Corum did not play in the B1G Championship against Purdue or the CFP semifinal against TCU.

With the injury and missed time, Corum decided he wanted one more go around with Michigan and will return for the 2023 season.

Corum recorded 1,463 yards and 18 touchdowns during the 2022 season. His dominance in the backfield led him to become a Heisman favorite for much of the season, but after the injury, he slipped in the Heisman race. Perhaps next season will be his time to take home the coveted award.
