As part of the extension, Fleck received a raise of around $350,000 to bring his annual salary to $5 million. According to The Pioneer Press’ Andy Greder, Fleck’s buyout structure also changed with the extension.
It remained at $10 million in the first year of the extension, but moved from $4.5 million to $7 million in Year 2, from $3 million to $5 million in Year 3, and from $3 million to $4 million in Year 4 of the deal.
“This is home,” Fleck said when the extension was announced. He is in his 5th season at the helm of the program and guided the Gophers to a 32-22 record.
