Boo Corrigan addresses separation between Ohio State, Michigan and No. 4 Washington

Boo Corrigan was asked during the College Football Playoff committee’s Tuesday night teleconference why Ohio State and Michigan ranked No. 2 and No. 3 in the latest rankings ahead of No. 4 Washington, and how much of a margin existed between the current archrivals and their future B1G foe.
The tone of the question was around why the Huskies weren’t able to move up further — specifically why they were below the Wolverines despite more wins over ranked opponents — while insinuating that Ohio State and Michigan’s strong offense and defense allowed them to gain the edge.
“I think they’re both really good teams offensively and defensively,” Corrigan said. “To your point, I think the committee, in looking at Washington, there were a couple of weeks with Arizona State and the Stanford game where we wanted to see a little bit more from Washington, and as I alluded to earlier, they’ve had six consecutive quarters and given up a total of 20 points, including against Oregon State that averages 36 points.”
Rewinding to Oct. 21, Washington defeated Arizona State, but by a final of 15-7. Conversely, it allowed 33 points to Stanford in a 42-33 win on Oct. 28.
“I think it all plays in together, and from watching games to statistics to schedule to everything, and we’ve got one more week of datapoints,” Corrigan said.
