Brad Underwood is thrilled to secure the commitment of Zacharie Perrin, for the 2nd time.
Perrin, who is from France, initially signed a Big Ten tender of financial aid but was unable to enroll at Illinois this fall. However, on the 1st day of the early signing period, Perrin reaffirmed his commitment to Illinois, signing a national letter of intent.
Underwood praised assistant coach Geoff Alexander’s commitment to the recruiting Perrin.
A lot of work went into Zach. (Assistant coach Geoff Alexander) made a couple trips abroad, and he’s a guy who we got very involved with and loved what he was about. We did Zooms with him. It didn’t quite work with the timing of some things, yet now he’s over here and we have created a tremendous relationship. That’s all Geoff. Geoff has put a tremendous amount of time into that, and he’s very comfortable.
Perrin is rated a 3-star recruit per 247Sports Composite and is the 217th-best prospect overall in the class of 2023.
Perrin joined 4-star forward Amani Hansberry and 4-star guard Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn in signing with the Illini on the 1st day of the early signing period. Currently, the Illini have the No. 17 recruiting class in the country.
