Death, taxes, and Wisconsin finding good running backs.

The Badgers just churn out high-level tailback after high-level tailback and after a longer-than-usual stretch spent looking for their next guy, freshman Braelon Allen has emerged as a future star.

After logging only 12 carries in the team’s first 4 games, Allen has topped 100 yards rushing in each of Wisconsin’s last 6 games. No freshman has done that at Wisconsin since Anthony Davis did it in 2001.

BTN tweeted out the milestone.

Allen has been electric during this Badger winning streak. A 4-star recruit from the 2021 class, Allen stayed in-state to play for Wisconsin. Since the Illinois game on Oct. 9, he’s run wild. During this 6-game run, Allen is averaging 7.4 yards per carry. He’s found the end zone 8 times and piled up 785 yards. Only Ohio State’s TreVeyon Henderson is averaging more on a per-play basis than Allen.

The Badgers’ 35-7 win over Northwestern on Saturday was his full-on breakout moment. He carried it 25 times (a career-high) for 173 yards (a career-high) and 3 touchdowns (a career-high).

With Purdue and Minnesota both losing Saturday, Wisconsin (7-3, 5-2 Big Ten) controls its destiny in the Big Ten West divisional race.
