Brandon Peters provides update on status for Redbox Bowl

Brandon Peters was instrumental in Illinois’ dramatic season, but he was unable to play in the final game of the season against Northwestern.
Unfortunately, Peters was held out as he dealt with a concussion. The Wildcats went on to dominate that game and went on to win by a final score of 29-10.
During a Friday media session for the Redbox Bowl, Peters provided an update on his status. He indicated he was cleared to return on the Monday after the loss to Northwestern. While he definitely wanted to play in that game, the Illini staff did not clear him for the game.
Jeremy Werner with the Illini Inquirer shared Peters’ comments:
#illini Brandon Peters said he was cleared Monday after NW game. Tried to convince medical staff to let him play, but they wouldn't. Said he has no long-term concerns after two concussions this season.

Head coach Lovie Smith also confirmed that Peters is a go for the bowl game:

For the season, Peters has over 1,700 yards and 20 total touchdowns with the Illini. Hopefully, he can prove to be effective against Cal.
