The Illinois Fighting Illini got off to a hot start as they defeated divisional opponent  the Nebraska Cornhuskers in week o 30-22.

Since then, the Illini have fell flat on their face as they are now 1-2 with losses at home to UTSA and on the road this past weekend at Virginia.

Backup QB Art Sitkowski has been starting for the Illini ever since starting QB Brandon Peters went down with a shoulder injury.

Sitkowski, in 3 games with the Illini, has been serviceable for the Illini as he is 58-102 for a 56.9% completion rate throwing for 611 yards averaging 6 yards per throw, and has 6 touchdowns to 1 interception.

The problem is that Sitkowski’s play is not resulting in Illini wins as the Illini two weeks ago fell 37-30 to UTSA and this past weekend got trounced by Virginia 42-14.

Peters is back from his injury, and head coach Bret Bielema announced that Peters will make the start Friday against Maryland at home.

Maryland is 2-0 on the season as they have defeated regional rival West Virginia 30-24 and then FCS opponent Howard 62-0; this will be their first road game.

You can catch all the action Friday night at 9:00 ET on FS1.
