Bret Bielema talks cleaning up mistakes, improvements after loss to Indiana: ‘We got to weather the storm’

Bret Bielema wanted to clean up his team’s mistakes following Illinois’ loss to Indiana on Friday night per WCIA’s Brice Bement.
Illinois suffered a late collapse against Indiana and came up short on a late offensive drive. Illinois had a lead but it went away when Indiana pulled ahead with 23 seconds left in the game.

For Bielema, he had several things in mind for what he wanted to clean up.
“Just nonsense things we have to clean up,” Bielema said.
Illinois quarterback Tommy DeVito passed for 235 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception. DeVito had a solid outing, but he will look to make adjustments as the season continues on.

Bielema was not pleased with his team’s performance and recognized that the game got away from them:
“We did not deserve to win this game with how we played at times,” Bielema said. “We got to weather the storm.”
Illinois will need to weather the storm in the 2nd game of the season against Virginia on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 4 p.m. ET.
