Brett McMurphy on what he finds ‘very troubling’ about Ohio State’s Urban Meyer investigation

Brett McMurphy has called out Ohio State’s process in the conclusion of the Urban Meyer investigation.

On Monday, OSU’s Board of Trustees received an oral briefing on the findings of the investigation. The oral briefing is to prepare the board for its Wednesday meeting in which Meyer’s status as head football coach will presumably be decided.

McMurphy believes the oral briefing is being used to avoid creating public record, which could prove significant in what the public finds out from the investigation’s findings. If there is no written summary of the oral briefing or any companion written report, it is possible that the complete findings of the investigation will only be known by the investigators and the 20-member Board of Trustees.

Maryland, on the other hand, has vowed to be transparent, earning some praise from McMurphy. Maryland’s investigation is not as far along as the one at OSU. We shall see if the school follows through on its transparency promise.

Both B1G schools have head coaches on administrative leave pending the results of investigations prompted by bombshell reports.
