Brett McMurphy with Action Network isn’t wasting any time with his college football bowl projections, dropping his outlook for the 2023-24 postseason before the calendar turns to June.
This year, the College Football Playoff will feature a 4-team field for one more time before expanding. When it comes to the Playoff, McMurphy has some usual suspects projected with Michigan and Georgia as champions of the B1G and the SEC, respectively.
The rest of McMurphy’s Playoff projections are bound to generate a bit of buzz. Heading into the summer, McMurphy is projecting Florida State and Washington into the CFP with Ohio State, Alabama and Clemson missing the field but playing in New Year’s Six Bowls.
As for the rest of the B1G, McMurphy is projecting 10 total teams to go bowling in the postseason. That includes conference head coach newcomers Luke Fickell and Matt Rhule taking Wisconsin and Nebraska to the postseason this season.
Here’s where McMurphy currently has B1G teams playing in the postseason:
Illinois
- Music City Bowl: vs. Arkansas
Iowa
- Pinstripe Bowl: vs. NC State
Maryland
- Guaranteed Rate Bowl: vs. Baylor
Michigan
- Rose Bowl (CFP semifinal): vs. Florida State
