Brian Lewerke’s career at Michigan State was a bit of a roller coaster. There’s no doubt the quarterback had a tremendous amount of talent, but he didn’t get the Spartans nearly as many wins as he had hoped.

That doesn’t hinder the kind of numbers he put up during his four seasons with the Spartans. And following Friday night’s Pinstripe Bowl performance, Lewerke now sits inside the top five of several passing categories in the history of Michigan State.

According to the official Twitter account of Michigan State football, Lewerke ranks No. 4 in passing touchdowns with 47 and is just the second Spartans quarterback to pile up over 700 career completions. He’s also the fourth player in program history to throw for over 8,000 career yards.

Lewerke ended his Michigan State career throwing for 320 yards and accounting for one passing and a rushing touchdown in a 27-21 win over Wake Forest in the Pinstripe Bowl.

This season, Lewerke threw for 3,079 yards, 17 touchdowns and completed over 58 percent of his passes. He also rushed for 363 yards and three scores.

Michigan State finished the season 7-6.
