The Denver Broncos kick off their 2022 season as part of a “Monday Night Football” doubleheader on ESPN. Russell Wilson, who played for the Seattle Seahawks since coming into the league in 2012, has donned a Broncos jersey and returns to the Pacific Northwest to face his former team.

On the other side of the ball, Broncos coaches hope they’ll get good value from Matt Henningsen, their rookie defensive lineman. Henningsen, a 3rd-team All-B1G pick for Wisconsin after the 2021 season, was a 6th-round pick for Denver this past spring.

Broncos defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero met the media on Friday, and per beat reporter Zac Stevens, mentioned that the team will be leaning on his versatility throughout the season thanks to the system of play he learned while with the Badgers:

The 6-foot-3, 291-pound Henningsen had 6.0 tackles for a loss and 3.5 sacks in 2021 for the Badgers. Now, he’s ready to take on a new challenge in the NFL, and he’ll look to make a strong first impression on Monday night.
