Baron Browning was hoping to come into Columbus as an early enrollee and make an immediate impact.

The five-star linebacker will still have a chance to do that, but his spring is over.

Urban Meyer said on Tuesday that the true freshman had shoulder surgery this morning and will miss two months.

That means that Browning will miss the spring game and he’ll return in June.

Browning was a major recruiting victory for Ohio State. The Buckeyes had to fight off the likes of Alabama to land the five-star Texas linebacker. Browning even had a little fun at Meyer’s expense by jokingly telling him that he wasn’t coming to Columbus.

The Kennedale, Texas product was the No. 1 outside linebacker and the No. 11 recruit overall in the 2017 class. Only fellow early Texas enrollee Jeffrey Okudah was rated higher in Ohio State’s incoming class.

Ohio State’s spring game is set for April 15.
