Bruce Thornton has put together 3 impressive seasons at Ohio State, including this past season as the leading scorer for the Buckeyes. Now, he’s reportedly ready to run it back for his senior season after testing the NBA Draft waters.
To start the offseason, Thornton was among those players to test the NBA Draft while maintaining his eligibility to return to school. Thornton took some major strides as a junior, including upping his 3-point shooting to a career-high 42%.
In the end, he is returning to Columbus, according to college basketball insider Jon Rothstein. Thornton gives Ohio State a major building block and a key veteran leading the offense back in the fold for 2025-26.

This past season, Thornton averaged 17.7 points, 4.6 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.1 steals. His overall efficiency skyrocketed this past year as the 6-foot-2 point guard managed to shoot 50% overall from the floor.
Getting Thornton for another season is a major boost for Ohio State. The Buckeyes have also picked up 4 key transfers in the portal, adding to hopes that Jake Diebler and company are close to a breakthrough.
Last season, Ohio State cracked the top 25 early in the season but later faded down the stretch. Now, it’s time to find out if Diebler can get the program back to its first NCAA Tournament since 2022.
