Bryce Underwood committing to Michigan brought instant hype and expectations for the Wolverines, as the quarterback position was a major issue for the team last year. Despite being a freshman, things are reportedly trending that Underwood will be the starting quarterback in Ann Arbor in the fall.
According to Pete Nakos with On3 Sports, Underwood is trending toward being the starter in Week 1 as a true freshman. That is not surprising considering last year’s results for Wolverine quarterbacks.

The quarterback play was 1 of the biggest reasons why the Wolverines were only an 8-5 team last season and weren’t in contention for the College Football Playoff.
Michigan had 3 different players take snaps throughout the season, but none of them could sustain any kind of success. As a whole, the Wolverines threw for only 1,678 yards, 12 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. While they were able to run the ball well last year, they just weren’t able to get enough big plays down the field.
Underwood had a ton of hype the moment he committed to Michigan, and the hope and expectations for him have only continued to skyrocket. He has shown the tremendous arm talent that had every school interested in him, giving the Wolverines that big-play dynamic in the passing attack.
Many teams are not having a spring game this year due to fear of potential tampering and teams trying to steal their players. However, the Wolverines will be having a spring game on April 19.
How the quarterback position looks that day will be a potential sign of things to come, and all eyes will be on Underwood.
