Michigan needs to see more from Bryce Underwood in Year 2.

The fact that Underwood was starting as a true freshman at Michigan showed several times last season. He struggled mightily in each of the tougher games Michigan played, including at Oklahoma (9/24, 142 yards), vs. Ohio State (63 yards, 1 INT) and vs. Texas in the Citrus Bowl (199 yards, 3 interceptions).

With that said, Underwood’s talent has never been in question. Nor has his confidence. While speaking with All About Ann Arbor, Underwood noted that his biggest motivation heading into a crucial year 2 is to meet his own expectations for himself.

“I want to prove to myself that I am what I think I am,” Underwood said. When asked to elaborate, Underwood continued: “I feel like I’m the best player ever to come out of Michigan, now it’s time for me to show it.”

While Underwood is set to remain under center, a lot has changed for the Wolverines this offseason. While the lines of scrimmage and run game should remain strong, a new head coach and reworked linebacker/secondary unit remain questions heading into the new year.
