Joshua Perry argues that Michigan playing top ranked rival Ohio State should be taken into account by the College Football Playoff Committee regardless if they lose close.

With the new College Football Playoff Rankings coming out, Michigan was ranked at No. 5 behind Clemson. Perry highlighted how Michigan’s schedule can do it some favors down the stretch.

“Who would Clemson have played that would be a playoff caliber team? The answer is nobody. But Ohio State and Michigan have to play each other, and that would be their only loss,” Perry said while debating how the big B1G’s Eastern division game sets up for a stronger resume than the Tigers. “And in this situation it would be a close loss. I would take one of those teams over a Clemson team that has not looked really dominant.”

Perry challenged co-host Jake Butt to find “the playoff caliber” team the Tigers have faced or will face in the remainder of the 2022 season. Butt admitted he couldn’t find one and that he didn’t why Clemson should get in without a similar strength of record to Michigan.

Some media members have pointed out that Michigan’s early season opponents were some of the worst FBS teams in the nation. For example UConn was 1-11 in 2021 and currently is 4-5 this season.

It could all come down to how the Wolverines play on Nov. 26.
