Penn State is looking to rebound following 2020, and one key unit heading into 2021 is the secondary.

During BTN’s Bus Tour stop in Happy Valley, it was the defensive backs that really stood out to Howard Griffith. He is big on that unit led by Joey Porter Jr. and Tariq Castro-Fields, along with a freshman that Griffith believes has All-American type potential with the Nittany Lions.

“I really like what’s happening in the secondary,” explained Griffith. “It’s a veteran group but they also have a youngster who’s going to be coming on in (Kalen) King out of Cass Tech in Detroit. To me, he has All-B1G, possibly All-American type talent.

“Joey Porter Jr…he’s a guy that’s really developed. Castro-Fields on the other side at corner, so I really like what they’ve done in the secondary.”

King is certainly a name to watch as a member of Penn State’s 2021 recruiting class. He joined the Nittany Lions as a 4-star prospect and the No. 16 CB nationally for the cycle.
