Rutgers is in the process of rebuilding the program under head coach Greg Schiano and looking to take another step forward in 2021.

During the shortened 2020 season, the Scarlet Knights proved to be one of the bigger surprises. Rutgers went 3-6 and consistently showed a fight and never-quit attitude that had been missing in recent years.

Entering 2021, a lot of production returns for the program as the team looks to keep moving forward. On Monday, the BTN crew discussed their recent stop at Rutgers’ fall camp and a number of things stood out.

For Howard Griffith, he’s keeping an eye on the situational football that Rutgers keeps working on:

“I liked a lot…for me, it was really about the situational football that I continue to see each and every time,” said Griffith.

Gerry DiNardo really likes the overall makeup of this team while also highlighting the possibility of getting out to a fast start with the early season schedule:

“Coaching matters, toughness matters, fundamentals matter,” explained DiNardo. “By watching that practice, they check all 3 of those boxes, and what an opportunity for this team to get off to a fast start.”

For Joshua Perry, his biggest concern comes at the line of scrimmage, but he likes the talent for Rutgers at a number of skill positions:

“I think across the lines, they just need to develop a little bit more, but this team is going to be in a position to compete,” said Perry.
