After initially appearing to make a 42-yard field goal that likely would have sent Saturday’s game vs. Arizona State to overtime, Michigan State was flagged for having 12 men on the field.
Having to re-kick the field goal, this time from 47-yards out, junior Matt Coghlin hooked it left and the Sun Devils hung on for a 10-7 win. However, Big Ten Network analyst Glen Mason believes the officials missed a call on the deciding play.

"It is clear he leaps over; in fact, you see that he falls. That's the type of injury that could happen that they are trying to prevent."

Mason seems to raise some valid points and, unfortunately, the loss prevented Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio from making history. Tied atop the school’s all-time win list at 109 with the late Duffy Daugherty, Dantonio’s team will look to bounce back and get No. 110 for their coach on Saturday in Evanston vs. Northwestern.
