Buckeyes OC Kevin Wilson says RB TreVeyon Henderson ‘talented enough to have a role’ as true freshman

Since the day he committed to Ohio State in March 2020, there’s been a lot of hype surrounding five-star running back TreVeyon Henderson. He’s one of the premier athletes in the Buckeyes’ 2021 recruiting class, which is quite an honor considering the number of Top 100 prospects heading to Columbus.
We won’t know what Henderson is fully capable of accomplishing until at least this fall when he takes his first handoff with the Buckeyes. But offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson believes the freshman back has an opportunity to carve out a role as early as this season.
“I think for a guy like TreVeyon who’s a young player, he’s going to be talented enough to have a role,” Wilson said, per Eleven Warriors. “That role will be enhanced, like all these players we’re talking about, with their durability and their dependability and their body (holding) up.”
When he committed to Ohio State, Henderson was coming off a season in 2019 in which he rushed for 2,424 yards and 45 touchdowns while also totaling 283 receiving yards and 5 scores on 18 catches. He returned 2 kickoffs and a punt for touchdowns that year.
Henderson was ranked as the No. 22 overall prospect in the 2021 class and the No. 1 running back in the class. He appears to be well on his way to making a quick impact for the Buckeyes.
