The quarterback position has been an area of concern for Ohio State in recent weeks, but Ryan Day is preparing to bring in reinforcements in the future.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Buckeyes received a commitment from four-star pro-style quarterback Kyle McCord out of Philadelphia, Penn. He’s the second prospect to commit to Ohio State in the 2021 class, joining five-star defensive end Jack Sawyer.
McCord made his announcement on Twitter with a brief message.
“Buckeye Nation, I’m coming for you,” McCord wrote on Twitter. “Committed to The Ohio State University. Go Bucks.”

McCord is currently ranked as the No. 8 pro-style quarterback in the 2021 class by 247Sports. He’s also listed as a top five player out of Pennsylvania and ranks No. 112 overall.
At 6-foot-3, 205 pounds, McCord is a highly-recruited prospect, getting looks from several elite programs. He’s received 19 offers, but chose Ohio State over Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State and Rutgers.
McCord may not be coming to Columbus for a few years, but it’s clear that recruiting talented quarterbacks is still a top priority for Day and his staff.
