Buzzer beaters are one of those things that make March Madness so popular among the fans. Thus far in the tournament, there haven’t been many ‘One Shining Moments’ that people will be talking about forever.

That changed on Sunday night, as Derik Queen hit a game-winning shot at the buzzer to give the Maryland Terrapins a 72-71 victory against Colorado State.

Adding to the drama, was the fact that Colorado State guard Jalen Lake hit a 3-pointer with 6 seconds left to give the Rams a 71-70 lead.

As you can imagine, with the fans finally getting their first ‘This is March Moment’, social media was on fire after Queen sent the Terrapins to the Sweet 16:

Fans across the country are celebrating the big time play by the freshman that pushed the Terrapins to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2015-16.

For Queen, it continued his incredible play in postseason play for the Terrapins. He is averaging 14.5 PPG, 9.5 RPG and 2 BPG in the NCAA Tournament, while also having a dominating B1G tournament.

Up next for the Terrapins is a Florida Gators team that is as good as there is in college basketball. They will present matchups that Maryland hasn’t seen in the NCAA Tournament, and the Terrapins will need Queen to continue to play the way he is.
