Freshman quarterback C.J. Stroud had a big game throwing for 330 yards and five touchdowns on 17 completions (out of 23 passing attempts). Stroud officially has thrown the most touchdown passes in a B1G game as a freshman quarterback. This performance comes one week after Stroud didn’t play in the 59-7 home win over the Akron Zips. In the game versus Akron, Kyle McCord started the game for Ohio State with Stroud not playing due to a shoulder injury.
Stroud said that he wasn’t feeling 100% before Ohio State took on the Tulsa Golden Hurricane two weeks ago. He said he felt significantly better going into the game versus Rutgers. There were discussions McCord was potentially ready to play if Stroud wasn’t 100%.
"I definitely felt way better coming into this game with my shoulder." Stroud says he "really wasn't feeling right" going into the Tulsa game. Says he was able to step into throws today.

Stroud clarified that there is no bad blood in the quarterbacks meeting, and he respects McCord. Stroud had a solid game in his first game back from the shoulder injury.
"We're a brotherhood, regardless. Whoever's playing." Stroud says there's no competition or "beef" among Ohio State quarterbacks.
