Cade McNamara injured in non-contact situation during Week 5

Cade McNamara has been working his way back for Iowa after a quad injury late in fall camp. Unfortunately, it looks like McNamara might find himself back on the sidelines after an ugly scene Saturday night.
Facing Michigan State, McNamara dropped back for a pass before trying to take off in the first quarter. He took a few steps before going down in a heap in a worrisome scene.
The incident was very similar to the non-contact situation when McNamara initially injured his quad in training camp. No update has been provided quite yet, but he was seen being gingerly helped off the field without being able to put much weight on his leg.

While fans wait for an update on McNamara, Deacon Hill finished off the ensuing drive before the Hawkeyes punted it away. Hill has just 8 pass attempts on the season with 4 completions for 49 yards.
We’ll see what that means for Iowa’s playcalling, but McNamara was seen being carted off the field without applying any pressure on his left leg. For now, it would appear extremely doubtful that McNamara returns at any point Saturday night.
