Cade McNamara makes decision on transfer portal, per report

Cade McNamara was Michigan’s starting quarterback during the 2021 season. He helped the Wolverines produce their first win over Ohio State, first B1G Championship and first College Football Playoff appearance of the Jim Harbaugh era.
Entering 2022, McNamara remained the starter but was in a battle with JJ McCarthy for the starting QB job. After losing the starting job, McNamara was hurt early in the season and eventually had season-ending surgery late in the year.
Now, McNamara is officially heading for the transfer portal according to multiple reports.

It’s important to remember that McNamara’s entry into the portal is not currently indicative of a departure. He could always reverse course and stay in Ann Arbor but it looks like he’ll investigate opportunities.
The decision is not surprising considering McNamara’s body of work with the Wolverines. Few QBs can boast a B1G Championship and CFP appearance, but McCarthy was just the better option moving forward. McNamara is likely to have plenty of suitors via the portal for 2023.
