Cade McNamara exited Week 5’s matchup against Michigan State early and is expected to miss the remainder of the 2023 season for the Hawkeyes.
There’s some good news on that front, though. According to Iowa insider David Eickholt, McNamara plans to return for the 2024 season.
Iowa’s Swarm Collective CEO Brad Heinrichs said on @KXnOMorningRush that he spoke with Cade McNamara and his father yesterday.
Cade will be returning to the #Hawkeyes next season.

This was always McNamara’s most logical move. McNamara has already transferred once (from Michigan to Iowa) and would be a low draft pick if he were to declare this season. And that’s assuming he’d be drafted at all in a class that is as deep as it gets pertaining to QBs.
McNamara struggled some to start out the 2023 season. He threw for just over 500 yards with 4 touchdowns and 3 interceptions with a completion percentage just over 50%.
Backup Deacon Hill stepped in for the Hawkeyes against the Spartans following McNamara’s injury. Hill was 11-of-27 passing for 115 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception during the Hawkeyes’ win over the Spartans.
