Caitlin Clark captures second straight B1G Player of the Year Award after dynamic season for Iowa

Caitlin Clark put together another dynamic season leading Iowa basketball. On Tuesday, she was once again recognized as the B1G’s Player of the Year for the 2022-23 season.
Clark took home the league’s Player of the Year while Indiana’s Mackenzie Holmes captured Defensive Player of the Year honors. Though the Hawkeyes missed out on the league title, Iowa did produce a dramatic win over the Hoosiers on the final day of the regular season.
During the regular season, Clark recorded 9 triple-doubles and averaged 27.2 points, 7.4 rebounds and 8.2 assists.

With averages of 27 points per game, 8 assists per game and 7 rebounds per game, Clark joins an elite group of players across the NBA, WNBA or NCAA basketball to post those numbers since 2009-10.

With a record of 23-6, Iowa will head to the B1G Tournament and prepare for a hopeful run through March Madness.
National Player of the Year race
With Clark capturing the B1G’s top honor, the attention will turn to the National Player of the Year race. Clark ranks among the national leaders in a number of key categories, including 2nd for points (27.2), 1st for assists (8.2) and 3rd for 3-pointers made (3.3).
Among the likely competitors for the award are Villanova’s Maddy Siegrist and South Carolina’s Aliyah Boston.
