Caitlin Clark wins AP National Player of the Year honors

Caitlin Clark is officially the AP National Player of the Year.
That announcement was made official on Thursday morning. Clark was surprised with the news during a recent visit to a local children’s hospital.

The announcement comes just 1 day after Clark was officially named the winner of the 2023 Naismith Trophy.
Clark averaged 27.3 points, 8.6 assists and 7.3 rebounds per game this season while leading Iowa too a No. 2 seed.
Clark has backed up this honor with incredible play during the NCAA Tournament. She has led the Hawkeyes to the Final Four and is coming off of a historic Elite Eight performance. She scored 41 points and added 10 rebounds and 12 assists in a win over Louisville.
Clark is the 2nd player from Iowa to win this honor, which has been handed out since 1995. Megan Gustafson also won the award in 2019.
Iowa will face No. 1 South Carolina in the Final Four on Friday night.
