Cameron Calhoun is headed west.

The former Michigan cornerback committed to Utah on Sunday afternoon. He was a 4-star recruit in the class of 2023 but was not a significant contributor for the Wolverines during his true freshman season.

Here’s his announcement:

Calhoun departed Ann Arbor after just 1 season with the Wolverines. He was a 4-star prospect in the class of 2023. He was ranked as the No. 396 overall player and the No. 41 cornerback in the country for that cycle, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

However, he was not able to carve out an immediate role on Michigan’s defense as a true freshman. The Ohio native will now head west in search of more playing time going forward.

Utah has been aggressive in the transfer portal this offseason as it looks to bolster its roster ahead of its move to the Big 12 next season. Calhoun is Utah’s 6th transfer commitment so far this offseason and its 4th on the defensive side of the ball.

Calhoun will have four years of eligibility with the Utes.
